Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ; Romans 1:1-6 NKJV
Jesus came preaching about the gospel of the kingdom, this was His message. He didn’t come to preach about creation, He didn’t come to preach about Dinosaurs, He didn’t come to tell us why God destroyed the world and saved those in the ark. His message was the gospel, and He asked us to preach the same gospel. There are many subjects in the Bible, but not all subjects are directly relatable to the gospel.
Why the Gospel?
When it comes to the salvation of man, only one thing can save men, this is the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Why does man need saving? Saving from who and saving from what? Man needs saving from:
- Sin.
- Death (the direct consequence of sin).
- The works of the devil.
- The wrath of God.
The Book of Romans explains to us what the gospel is:
The first fact of the gospel is that it was spoken about by the Lord Himself and by His Holy Prophets in the Scriptures. Why is this important to note? Because God never does anything apart from His Word. Before the Lord does anything, He speaks about it. He informs His Prophets, those who speak for Him on the earth. Amos 3:7
Here are some examples:
- God – “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you” (Genesis 12:3).
- God – “Then God said, ‘Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him’” (Genesis 17:19).
- Jacob – “The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his” (Genesis 49:10).
- God – “When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever” (2 Samuel 7:12–13).
- Isaiah – “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).
- Isaiah – The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned” (Isaiah 9:1–2).
God spoke about Jesus long before He was born of a woman. It had been God’s plan from the start of Genesis, to gather all things into one, that is Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:10
